The conference gathered 7 consortiums with 32 members, 23 honourable guests, including the following national representatives: Mrs Wang(Deputy Director-General of Department of Maternal and Child Health of National Health and Family Planning Commission of China-NHFPC), Ms Han (Former Technology Counsellor of Chinese Embassy to Belgium), Mr Song(Deputy Director General of Center for Capacity Building and Continuing Education of NHFPC), Ms Hong (Vice secretary-general and Director of international co-operation of China Family Planning Association), Ms Peng (Beijing Municipal Institute for Drug Control). International guests were: Ms Petrova (Delegation of the European Union to China), Mr Zhang (Representative of Province of East Flanders and Ghent University of Belgium), Mr Peng and Mr Guo (Representative of United Nation Population Fund, China), Ms Zhang (Representative of World Health Organisation), Mr Tian (Representative of UNICEF) and many others from various healthcare organisations and institutions, along with INPAC’s Scientific Advisory Board and Policy Advisory Board members and representatives of participating hospitals from 30 Chinese provinces and media.

Ms. Wang Shasha is a master student from Fudan university, School of Public Health. She participated in the INPAC project since September 2014. Her master’s thesis explored the feasibility of short message service to promote post-abortion contraceptive utilization in China.

China Western Obstetrics and Gynecology Forum had been held in June 25, 2016 in Zhengzhou. Leader of WP7, Professor Hu Lina who comes from the second affiliated hospital of Chongqing Medical University had participated in the forum and made a statement.


Project leader Prof. Weihong Zhang, together with national coordinator Prof. Yan Che and provincial coordinator Prof. Xiujuan Chen, visited MCH of Fujian Province, MCH of Longyan City and General Hospital of Fujian Province – the three project hospitals in Fujian province during April 26-27, 2016.

Coming to its concluding stage, there will be a few forthcoming events in the next few months:

1. SAB meeting together with INPAC trial outputs workshop November 23-25, 2016 in Ghent, Belgium

2. Project final meeting 13-15 January 2017 in Beijing, China


Dr. Yayi Hu will spend a period of 6 months at ICRH for conducting a post-doc research on the adverse outcomes related to advanced maternal age and get involved in the INPAC Project.


The 3rd INPAC Project Management Meeting has successfully closed on 15th May 2016 in Ghent, gathering altogether 7 consortiums with 26 team members, as well as representatives from the Chinese embassy (Science and Technology), China Platform, Faculty of Medicine of Ghent University, Chinese Professional Association in Belgium and Editor of the Key for the Best. The progress of project has been discussed and future actions have been determined until end of project on 31 January 2017.


On 13-15 May 2016, the annual Project Management Meeting of the EC FP7 INPAC Project will be held in Ghent, Belgium.


Upon completion of phase II and phase III from project month 19 to 36 (February 2014 – July 2015) of the project, INPAC has fulfilled its objectives for the 2nd reporting period. Significant progress has been achieved in WP1 (project coordination), WP4 (development of intervention strategies), WP5 (implementation and follow-up data collection), WP6 (quantitative and qualitative evaluation), WP7 (policy translation strategies) and WP8 (dissemination).


On 31 January 2016, CMA INPAC expert group convened in Haikou for WP5 meeting, followed by field supervision at Hainan General Hospital, Hainan Affiliate Hospital of Medical School and Hainan Provincial Women and Child Health Center on 1 February 2016.
